This is a really cool initiative, but it feels weird to me that a bunch of protected classes are left out: religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, etc.
For example, "median earnings for people with no disability were over $28,000 compared to the $17,000 median income reported for individuals with a disability" [1] according to the 2006 census. And gay men earn 10% to 32% less [2] than heterosexual men.
Should Dev Bootcamp's new scholarships include other classes? Or is it better to just focus on race and gender identity as a "first step"? Why?
