My Google Analytics reports are being rendered increasingly meaningless by referral spam which seems to be getting worse by the week. With the likes of semalt.com, darodar.com, ranksonic.info and buttons-for-website.com breaking out like a rash over all my clients' websites, it's becoming a real nuisance. I've got 35 concurrent visitors from social-buttons.com on one site at this very moment according to GA, and it usually only gets one visit a day.I'm just about prepared to keep these at bay via server or client side code, but half of them don't even have the good grace to hit the web server any more and just inject straight to GA from afar, which means having to mess around with Google's interface setting up filters all the time.
These sites must stand out like a sore thumb on Google's Panopticonsole, so why on earth are they letting them ruin one of their most popular products?
