The Apple Watch appears to have similar interface as a Swiss watchmaker's Patent

Ventura Watches[1] uses a similar mechanism like Apple to use the Crown to configure their watch. It is called Easyskroll (TM) and was patented in 2002 under 2002CH-1962 [2]

Side Note: I find it funny how people are always complaining about the size of these smart watches when some regular watches like this one are HUGE!
