For the past two weeks, I have been building a Bitcoin Christmas(/Happy Holidays) Card company --> and it has just launched (today) at www.spreadthecoin.com . The "Certificate" makes it easy for Bitcoiners to give their friends and family their first Bitcoin (with suggestions on how to spend/use it)! It is meant to play-well with home-printers and can suffice as a last-minute gift idea. I think that Christmas morning/Hanukkah is an excellent opportunity to gift coins to others! :) This is more of a Bitcoin advocacy idea and (purposefully) does not implement a Wallet-type service.
We do not take a percentage of anything, it's simply run on donations. Tis' the season, right?
Speaking of which --> Beginning January 3rd, 2014 - the company will be soft-redirected/hosted to/at ".org" and will become a "Transparent Company" (which is essentially a heavily-amended version of a Domestic LLC). The premise of this idea is that --with Bitcoin-- it's possible for companies to be immediately and completely transparent. I believe there is quite a bit of potential innovation around financial tools (for easy-audits and checks-against-the-budget). I've pulled some smart people together on that aspect of the business. It certainly has an aspirational quality to it. The incoming donations will be redirected to other organizations at that point like EFF.org, FightFortheFuture.org, etc -- you can read all about it on www.spreadthecoin.com .
