It struck such a chord with me because I started working in a large consulting company a little while ago and almost all of the developers fall into this category. I had noticed that none of them had github accounts, few even had linked in accounts and fewer yet had a personal website/portfolio. Listening to a podcast, going to a conference or even following a tech news site are out of the question.
I mean, it works for them and that's great, but we also get a lot of guys coming out of college. Would it be worth it to try to encourage these people to expand or should I just do my thing and expand my own horizons? Have you guys experienced this as well?
