Karp's vision for Palantir before he started it: "[The company] would do two things -- it would allow humans to find needles in hay stacks. Make the date intellegible to you and me, and by doing that would allow us to find bad people trying to destroy our society. And could be used to protect civil liberties, by making the data sets transparent, so that it's very clear what the government is doing and how they're doing, which is a particular passion of our company."
