For the past couple months I have been tinkering around on different ideas to help solve some of the current problems with the news. I decided to put together this basic chrome extension as a way for the normal news reader to quickly get article summaries, see who wrote the article, what else the authors wrote, get estimated bias ratings, as well as talk to the article using an AI chat. I use it daily while reading the news (or any content on the internet) to help save me time.
I've been pretty fed up with the descent of news into sensationalism and hyper-polarization in the past few years and started looking for ways to fix it as well as did a deep dive on past/current companies that have attempted to fix it. I have longer term ideas that I am now working on that revolve around building a community around this that supports and fosters independent journalism.
I saw building a chrome extension that detects biases as a simple temporary remedy for the standard reader to get more information on what they are reading as well as to read articles more quickly.
I am hoping by building this to meet other people interested in this space who would like to join this community and riff on ways to improve the news. Feel free to reach out if you are curious/care about the news space too.
The extension uses a freemium model so anyone can try the basic version for free.
Open to any and all feedback!
