This is my second “startup” or “app” or whatever you want to call it. The first one was an eBay feedback reminder I made 10 years ago. I created that because I initially wanted it to make enough money to pay a utility bill, and it ended up being my main source of income.
The rub was that I had eBay doing all the promotion for the app because of a special circumstance: they had an app store initiative, and it wasn’t as popular as they hoped with developers, so they closed it down and left only 50 apps there; mine being one of them.
So, I got a ton of leads I didn’t have to work for, which was a blessing and a curse because I never had to teach myself any real marketing. But I’ve always wanted to - I just could never sink my teeth into that eBay app I wrote. That’s because I originally wrote it for my brother who was an eBay seller, and though I tried to get into it myself, I never could. Selling on eBay sucks.
But I can get into creating product demo software. For the last 9 months, I’ve been heads down in my room just pushing and pushing through. I’m so proud of myself for doing that, no matter what the outcome is. I learned so much about HTML video, Framer motion, Floating UI, and React.
My aspirations are that I want 200 people to pay me $23 a month each to help them create a demo of their SaaS, host it on their site, refine it over time, and track its engagement and conversions with Mixpanel. This is the second SaaS I’ve created. The first one was an eBay feedback reminder that I wrote 10 years ago.
I’m responsible for all of the software engineering and now marketing. I’m a solopreneur, but I’m interested in talking to other people who can help!
I created it so SaaS businesses can explain how their products work in that precious, small window of time their customers initially engage on their sites. You have about 3 to 5 seconds during that window, and if customers are able to play with an interactive, click-through demo, chances are they’ll click through to the end and leave with a better understanding of what it is you do.
I started taking a Ben Marriot Motion Foundation course https://www.benmarriott.com/ and I created this product video, which I’m using for my Product Hunt launch next week
