Templeman Automation has a kickstarter project starting (http://kck.st/JPgTG9) that aims to provide a fast, hackable platform for everyone who wants to create a large touch interface but can't wait or afford the much-promised MS Surface. This has required researching a stable and multi-purpose configuration (including the projector, IR illuminators, and surface materials) and coming up with a chassis design that can be shipped inexpensively and then built up with a few screws like Ikea furniture. The goal is to project livingrooms everywhere a little farther into the future.
