Last few months, I have seen a trend of articles hosted by Medium dot com rank top in Google results but when I click on them, they all have an "Upgrade" paywall almost at the beginning of the article.

For example, I just searched for "ios transparent gradient" because I was searching for how to make a transparent gradient in iOS. The top result is by a Medium blog on "betterprogramming DOT pub":

And it has a paywall asking for Upgrade at the beginning of the article.

Note that earlier, it asked me to login/signup. But when I did signup, it started showing me a paywall instead.

Is there a way to filter out such articles from Google?

Has Medium recently become aggressive at paywalling everything?
