I am Kevin Sims, a software engineer with a fervor for innovation and creating meaningful products. My life’s narrative, albeit far from conventional, is a story of overcoming adversities and channeling a creative spirit into the realm of software engineering. The path that led me here has been anything but traditional, yet it's shaped a resilient, inventive, and collaborative engineer eager to contribute to projects that move humanity forward.

Growing up amidst hardships between Dallas, Texas, and Pensacola, Florida, my early years were less about academic pursuits and more about survival and self-expression. From running lemonade stands to launching clothing brands, the drive to create was a dominant force in my life. The turning point came post-high school when my uncle-in-law, Scott Moss, successfully raised VC funds for his venture, tipe.io, a headless CMS platform. Witnessing a black man achieve something I thought was beyond reach ignited a spark within me to explore the boundless possibilities in technology.

I journeyed to California, enrolled in Lambda School, and dedicated 15 months to honing my coding skills. The sense of accomplishment I felt upon completing projects was nothing short of euphoric. It wasn't merely about writing code, but about molding ideas into tangible solutions that could potentially touch lives.

With a product-centric approach, I embarked on a career that took me from San Francisco to New York City, contributing to various innovative projects. Among these, my work at Creature World stands out, where I led the development and deployment of a claim site for NFTs, managing transactions over $100 million securely. The blockchain and B2C sectors excite me the most, however, I'm open to opportunities where I can work with teams sharing a relentless passion for innovation. I'm driven by the idea of developing products that resonate with users and have a positive impact on the world.

The road to employment isn’t without its bumps, especially with a non-traditional background. The responses have been scarce, and the technical interviews often feel detached from the real-world tasks at hand.
