I'm a fan of DBT and the way they have changed the data transformation landscape by introducing SQL based data transformation tool and introducing Modern Data Stack, but after their acquisition of Transform to build their own Semantic Layer which they were initially doing it using DBT Metric.
Unfortunate thing is they bought the MetricFlow and changed the license from AGPL to BSL and DBT's Semantic Layer is only available as a part of DBT Cloud offering.
This is a no go for small companies and startups who relied on DBT since last couple of years to build their analytics pipelines and products.I'm looking forward to enhance and support the v0.140.0 of MetricFlow and any kind of contribution to code and sponsorship is welcome.
