I'm wondering what the go is with some of these got services I've seen lately; Do many of them charge money? Run locally? Both?

I'm looking for a way that I can talk (verbally) with chat gpt, in such a way that I can use it on my walks to bounce around ideas and write down things. In the past I have tried to use the Google voice recorder to transcribe my notes and it was really bad. But I'm thinking a language model might have a better results, with the added benefit of me able to ask it questions

I already use the free chat got for this purpose in text and I know of the weakness in the system, but I'd still want to try something out.

Are there things out there can do this? Or am I going to have to roll and host my own? Are there any chatgpt services that you use/recommend?
