What does YouTube stand to gain by not doing anything about it? I wonder if there is some scheme where YouTube employees are paid off to allow it to run or if it's good for engagement. The only explanation has to be negligence or even malice given that the scams are so obvious and it has been bought to youtube's attention now for something like 3 years even as far back as 2019. YouTube has been sued twice for inaction at dealing with the scam videos, by Steve Wozniak and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
This has to be the best scam ever. No one getting in trouble for this, unlike the NFT frauds. It flies under the radar, unlike NFT rug pulls which get much more attention but make less money and less consistent.
