What's Changing?
Due to licensing changes imposed by Google, UTmail accounts will no longer offer unlimited storage beginning next year. To comply with the reduced storage quota, the university must implement the following changes:
Alumni, former student, and retiree UTmail accounts will be limited to 1GB of email storage. UTmail accounts that have been inactive for 12 months or longer will be deleted. Although storage limits and available services are being adjusted, the university will continue to support the UTmail service.
When?
On Nov. 1, 2022, Information Technology Services (ITS) will begin implementing storage quotas, deleting over-quota data, and deactivating inactive accounts for all UTmail users. ITS will communicate regularly with UTmail users regarding these changes.
Action Required
Each alumnus, former student, or retiree must review their UTmail storage before Nov. 1, 2022, and, if necessary:
Reduce email usage to below 1GB of storage Remove or delete all content stored in Drive Log into UTmail at least annually to retain active account status (checking storage accomplishes this) Users who are over quota on Nov. 1 will no longer be able to send or receive email through their UTmail account until their storage is reduced to below the allotted quota.
