My name is Zeb, I'm a lawyer, (I have some good qualities as well :p), and coder and I know cold account posts are lame, but me and the team are working on a start-up here in Minneapolis called LegalQ - https://legalq.io It's trite, but we are Uber for law.
We hope this will ultimately change the way legal advice is given holistically, and bring law into 2021. We are launching in MN with an amazing team (Wagma and Tim-co-founders).
There are currently 60M Americans that have some ongoing legal needs. We want to fix the first part of that chain by making access to an attorney real-time and available 24/7 via text, voice, or video chat.
If you have ever had a legal question and tried to search Google for the answer, you know how rough this can be. There are some attorneys that offer free consultations, but a lot of times it's very limited scope and they don't give you the goods until you sign up as a client / retainer.
On the other end, we also want to help attorneys find new potential clients. Student loans, (of which I currently have six-figures of), make any kind of public interest law, or really anything other than BigLaw really hard to be successful. There is a bi-model distribution on legal salaries. If you are in the top 3% of your class and you're in BigLaw, you can make $300k and call it a day, but most others can't take this path, and have a house payment worth of student debt to climb in the meantime.
Tech stack is React Native / GraphQL.
Anyway, we want to solve both of these issues at once. Access to justice, and access to potential clients in one swoop. Dreamers gonna dream.
Anyway 2, this isn't completely altruistic, we launched on PH today so if you like what you see and want to support, that'd be amazing! https://www.producthunt.com/posts/legalq?
If you have any other questions, hit me up and I'll do my best.
Thanks!
-Zeb
