# Jobs
Today was a tough day. Day cares are closed for summer and I have a ton of work. Running after a toddler is exhausting, so is the heat.
At my “real” job, a bug slipped through peer reviews and made its way to prod. It doesn’t help that rollouts are rare and delicate events.
This is blocking us from activating a feature we’ve been working on for months. I can almost feel the PM breathing down my neck. Nice guy, but under pressure to deliver.
# It’s live
Thursday the first version of my side proj was released on the Chrome Web Store.
Let me pitch it to you.
I'm building my own search engine. Crazy idea but not meant for everyone. Just devs. You and me.
# Baby steps
I tried a number of things, nothing conclusive. If my results aren’t helpful, what’s the point? So I’m taking this slow with a simple Chrome extension called “Stackoveflow Instant Answers”.
Really neat: it adds an Instant Answer button to Stackoverflow links on your Google results’ page.
It shows the number of upvotes and clicking opens a drawer with the top rated answer. Simple but huge time saver.
# Zero
Of course, build it and they won’t come.
It currently has zero users. It’s odd because it at least has me.
Maybe you need critical mass for Google to register this.
I don’t know. But I keep starring at this number. Zero.
About to email a few friends. Ask them to try it and give feedback.
This post is sort of a bottle in the ocean. It’ll most likely disappear in the web's deepness, swallowed by waves of never ending content creation.
But if you happen to read my words, have a go at it and tell me what you think.
