Ask HN: How do you track your reading list?

I have quite a few books on my list, and I find I can better motivate myself to keep reading if I can show myself that I've made progress and track what I've already read.

I've looked at solutions like GoodReads, but the whole social media aspect doesn't appeal to me, nor does their privacy policy. I'd like something simple and private. Cross-platform or some syncing option would be preferable, but not required: I was previously tracking my reading using a great local-only Android app called Book-a-log[0], but then the device on which it was installed was stolen, so, those records were lost.
