A few friends and I built Worthyt and just recently launched its Beta. It is a Chrome extension that adds micro-support buttons to content on (in alphabetical order): Hacker News, Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, and Wikipedia. It's a project that we built in an effort to help empower users and shift emphasis away from pure advertising and data-driven revenue models and focus platforms more on good content that users can actively support.
Currently, you can send as little as ten cents, and you can fund your account using USD (through PayPal) or cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, BCH, or LTC). To get started, you can sign up through the extension or on our website. If you're interested in sending, you can top up your account using PayPal (it accepts debit and credit as well) or cryptocurrency. Each click of the micro-support button sends an amount that you selected after downloading the extension. Both the currency and support amount can be changed by clicking the extension -> Preferences.
Through our site (https://worthyt.io), you can manage your account (e.g., see transaction history). Also, there isn't any commitment so you can withdraw whatever fund you received or used to top up at any time.
Our model is focused on supporting both the platforms and the contributors. With money transactions, 75% goes to the contributor, 10% goes to the platform (e.g., Hacker News), 5% - 10% goes to tx fees, and 5% goes to keeping Worthyt running. With cryptocurrency, because we don't handle the tx fees, 90% goes to the contributor, 5% goes to the platform, and 5% goes to Worthyt.
P.S. You can submit any feedback or bugs directly through the extension (it's the first two buttons on the extension menu)!
