I am not a complete savvy person, but i know enough to analyze my network. About 5 days ago my computer systems administrator privileges was taken away, and i had to format my pc. I even used a actual microsoft windows 7 disc instead of a torrent. As i was researching more i got locked out again and did more research before getting locked out 2nd time (after format). On the 3rd clean install, I than noticed my system and svchost kept talking to different router ports, thus making me inspect my modem for vulnerabilities. I read reports about different DSL providers across the world's modems/routers were being remotely hacked and flashed with tunneling software for hackers to use your modem as a relay. I also found that the system and svchost send to the router the system event log. Microsoft and alot of other companies leave backdoors so that they can see what you are doing on your computer, but what that also says is everyone in the planet is vulnerable for a global takeover. I kept tracing different IPs across the world, but they were unallocated and not assigned to ISPs, or they werent VPNs either, this persons literally spoofing IPs! But mostly I am saying this because you can buy a little firewall box for as little as $250 (even if you think you dont need it) or you can use your old dusty computer in your closet as a linux firewall router by simply adding a 2nd ethernet card than hooking up a router on the lan port (the internet will be plugged into the Wan port you assign on your homemade router). Because of the recent wannacry attacks, this made me wonder, "are they doing this to everyones pc?" I think the answer is yes.
