I keep hearing this theme all the time and it doesn't make sense.
If only the financially vulnerable are willing to do a hard job, we should change the job, no?
It doesn't have anything to do with politics. It has to do with ineffective ways of accomplishing a goal.
We can automate our farms now. Probably would not have been possible hundred years ago, but now I can..
But when I speak of my efforts to automate my farm with farm bots, it invariably turns to the topic of immigrants and Trump and politics.
We should not attempt to boost immigration by targeting the vulnerable. It is not about politics or being a Luddite. Automation and tech in farms : It is just the decent thing to do when the pressure to produce so much food with shrinking labour force and an expanding hungry population. I am very frustrated. I can't seem to find consensus even amongst my own people, my fellow farmers. It always comes down to tech being too expensive. And when I want to create said tech, I am always discouraged by the other side that farming isn't worth the investment. It's a weird tug of war that I simply cannot grok.
Thoughts?
