Ask HN: How to promote and open source IoT Platform?

I’ve created an open source IoT platform called Thriot that runs on Windows/Linux and has quite flexible architecture to be able to run on a small Linux box and even in highly-scalable cloud environment. The different storage platforms (mainly for telemetry data) are handled by plugins.

I’ve presented it at some meetups in Budapest (Hungary – Europe) but it didn’t provide traction.

The vision behind this stuff is to provide an open source IoT platform that anybody can pick, setup and configure for their needs to create an IoT solution more easily and faster.

The question is that where and how should I advertise this platform to get users or even contributors? What features/documentation elements are missing or hard to understand?

Thriot runs on the cross-platform ASP.NET 5 engine (currently in beta) based on Microsoft .NET/Mono. I personally deal only with the software I'm not a hardware guy.
